Episode 7: Look Into My Eyes!
April 24, 2008
The first trick to learning how a particular scene is lit is to look into the eyes of the subject. Oh, and avoid all undead creatures from 1983.
Show Notes:
- Look into the eyes of subjects in photographs to get an idea how they were lit. Although it doesn’t always reveal everything, it’s a good place to start.
- You can simulate window light by putting black gaffer’s tape on your softbox. You will need a large enough softbox, though, for the effect to be convincing.
- Undead creatures from 1983 music videos still roam the earth. Be aware of them and let them be.
- ‘Thriller’ turns 25 this week! Was it really that long ago?
- Check back next week for another new baby photography tip!
