Episode 4: Don’t Ruin It With Flash!
March 27, 2008
You took a shot, and your camera decided that flash would be really cool. Unfortunately, not. Here are some tips on when to turn off the flash and why.
Don’t think that because your camera wants to bust out its shiny flash that it’s good to do so. Sometimes it’s better to turn it off. Here’s the summary from this week’s episode:
You can improve your baby photography by turning off the flash, even when the camera is in full-auto-I-don’t-know-how-to-use-this-thing mode.
Practice taking shots using just window light. Shoot around the middle of the day to start.
Get between the window and your subject. Have your back to the window.
Be sure to check out an upcoming episode on when to force your camera to turn on the flash. Next week is Photoshop World in Orlando, so we plan to shoot a video down there!
